Unlike many a photographer I haven't been photographing since being a small child and actually only picked up a camera for the first time at the old age of 16 years while studying photo-journalism during my A Levels.
That moment led me to work my way through the academic system taking every photography course possibly right up to my Masters in Photography
I've now been working as a photographer in the industry for over 15 years and love it more than ever
I have also been a Lecturer in Photography for the last 7 years at Bradford College and am passionate about helping others develop their photographic skills and enthusiasm for this wonderful art.
Since 2015 I have owned my own photography studio and art gallery, Holmes Gallery, on the famous cobbled Haworth Main Street, nestled in the beautiful Yorkshire Moors.
My photographic roots started with analogue photography and consequently I still regularly photograph with film. I believe the quality and purity of this medium is unique to it and the joy of photographing and printing with it can not be surpassed. In particular I enjoy photographing with Polaroid and am happily building up my collection of vintage Polaroid cameras.
I've been married to my saintly patient husband for 5 years and we have two beautiful sons who inspire us and drive us crazy on a daily basis
I love dogs and dream of owning a French Bulldog one day
I live in a small rural village surrounded by stunning moorland and windswept landscapes which I adore and hope to never move from
I love France and spent time at our house there several times a year. France never fails to inspire my photography and consequently a lot of my Fine Art Images are shot and created there.
The most exotic places I've traveled to are Burkina Faso and Senegal, both of which I loved and would like to go back to one day. Travel and exploring the world and experiencing different cultures is a big part of my life and something which always feeds into my artwork.
I'm passionate about encouraging women, young and old, to love their bodies and see their true beauty and worth. I am a feminist and hope to ignite the belief in others that we are all equal and worthy through one beautiful fine art image or portrait at a time
